Imagination Meets Paper: Aron Wiesenfeld’s ‘Playtime’ Explores the Limits of Post-Its

Known for his mysterious and emotional paintings, Aron Wiesenfeld has taken a surprising turn—exploring art on tiny yellow Post-It notes. Despite the small size, his detailed ink drawings are rich in story and depth, using precise line work to create powerful, miniature narratives.

What started as a spontaneous idea has grown into a full collection. Wiesenfeld is now releasing these works in a new art book titled Playtime. The 120-page book is currently available on Kickstarter, where it quickly surpassed its funding goal within minutes of launch.

Along with the drawings, Playtime also includes poems and written reflections about the series. The title reflects Aron Wiesenfeld’s recurring themes—often focusing on children in quiet, thoughtful moments. Instead of joining playful games, his characters are usually alone, playing the piano or gazing into space.

“I see these small drawings as short stories,” Wiesenfeld explains. “They’re inspired by moments I notice in everyday life.”

This mix of visual storytelling and poetic detail adds even more depth to the collection, making Playtime a unique blend of art and emotion.

Wiesenfeld is based in North Carolina, and you can find more of his work on his website.
